Introducing the Network for strategic analysis

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Network for Strategic Analysis, as part of the Department of National Defence’s Mobilizing Insights in Defence and Security (MINDS) programme.

Co-directed by Justin Massie (UQAM) and Stéfanie von Hlatky (Queen’s University), the Network for Strategic Analysis brings together over 60 researchers, collaborators and partners, including the Bill Graham Centre for Contemporary International History.

The network’s principal mission is to mobilize research expertise to inform three main strategic challenges for Canada:

® The evolving role of great powers in an uncertain world order

(Lead: Jonathan Paquin, Université Laval);

® Multilateral security cooperation and the role of international organizations

(Lead: Sarah-Myriam Martin-Brulé, Bishop’s University);

® The future of defence capacity-building activities with global partners

(Lead: Theodore McLauchlin, Université de Montréal)

The Network for Strategic Analysis will pursue the following objectives:

1. Mobilizing – in French and in English – innovative research that is happening across Canada in the field of security and defence to generate new insights;

2. Disseminating strategic analysis to the government of Canada, partner organizations and the general public which will inform policy decisions;

3. Training the next generation of security and defence experts with a professional development approach that is anchored in equity, diversity and inclusion principles.

The Network for Strategic Analysis includes 18 Canadian universities and a cluster of partners and experts committed to research excellence and policy relevance.

Stay tuned for the official launch of the Network’s website and social media platforms!
